Day 10 is Blog Day

I will have my computer on the overhead and I will be showing some blogs that are concerned class.
Some blogs I will show will be:
http://www.britannica.com/blogs/author/jellis this is a blog about the founding fathers, their political philosophy and other beliefs
http://www.americanheritage.com/blog/ this is a blog about American history
http://publicreason.net/page/6/ this is a blog about political philosophy
http://www.americablog.com/2008/09/failed-philosophy.html This is a political and economic blog about the current state of the US
I will link to the blogs above, read one or two of the blog entries and then discuss the relevance and content of the blog, I will give participation points to every student who gives their own 2 cents.
This is kind of a free day that I think I will use every other Friday for each of my classes.

BASICS

Recap the last 2 weeks. -

APPLICATION
- How did this affect your life? Did it at all? Will you use some of the things in your life in the coming years? Have any of you thought of going into a public office? Has this changed your views?

ACTIVITY
- Watch the students' acting of their Constitutions. What would you change? Did it go well?
- Discuss the difficulties encountered throughout the past two weeks. Basically, they had to create their own form of government, so what did they learn? What was the hardest part? What was easy? Would you change any parts? Do you feel like you have an influence on what America does? Would you use these regulations in a real-life situation? Why or why not?
- Have students vote on their citizenship. The class can only pick ONE country to join as a whole. Which country would they choose? Why?
- Take a big roll of paper and have them write out the final Constitution on the paper. Make sure every person writes a part of it. The differences in handwriting make them individuals but also a part of a whole.
- Have students sign the chosen country with their best John Hancock
- Hang up finished product for all to see, hallway if possible.
- Hand out copies of video
